Beware the Shurfire Safety Scam

Scam alert! Shurfire Safety from Owensville, MO

My parents, senior citizens in their 70's, attended a free dinner at a local restaurant where the "Shurfire Safety" company pitched their products. The "safety advisor" convinced them to purchase smoke detectors, CO detector, and a fire extinguisher, where the cost averaged over $400 per item. The salesman was over at their house that night at 11 PM, installing smoke detectors. Fortunately, I was able to help my parents cancel the sale before it went through.

You will not find any sort of independent testing data that verifies their product performance claims or could possibly justify these exorbitant prices. They scare senior citizens and then sell them "safety". It's a scam.

You can Cancel your Order Within 3 Days

Be aware that when you buy something from a salesman in your home or at a restaurant or expo, by law you have 3 business days to cancel your order, you are not required to give a reason.

If you're reading this review after you've been duped into buying over-priced fire safety equipment, call the sales rep, call the company,  send a certified letter that you have cancelled your order, call your bank or credit card company to stop the payment, or report your credit card lost. Get help from family or friends if needed.

We are in Illinois, and the state has a hotline to the State Attorney General's office to report scams that prey on senior citizens. Their office also has a complaint form. Leave a review at the Better Business Bureau.
